Paul “The Taxman” Bettencourt founded Bettencourt Tax Advisors in 2009 after serving ten years as Harris County Tax Assessor-Collector (1998-2008), where he managed property tax collections for the our consultants’ direct industry knowledge, and served on the Harris County Appraisal District board. His professional insight into appraisal district operations, mass appraisal systems, and ARB procedures provides BTA with competitive advantages no other property tax consultant possesses.
Paul continues championing property tax reform while leading BTA’s strategic direction, consultant training, and technology development.
Paul holds a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Distribution from Texas A&M University. His motto, “The fastest way to a property tax cut is a successful protest,” reflects his commitment to helping Texas property owners achieve fair, equal, and uniform property tax appraisals.
